Kiesel Guitars Custom Shop Woods
The DC127 has a standard alder body and maple neck-through design. Alder is a high-quality tone wood used by many manufacturers because of its relative light weight and fine resonating tone. It's slightly darker in color than maple, which accentuates the DC127's neck. Alder also has a subtle and attractive grain that looks great in any of the Custom Shop's many finishes, including solid colors, translucent finishes and metallic solid finishes. Although alder is the standard wood, optional woods such as swamp ash, maple, mahogany, walnut and koa are available, all of which have their own tonal characteristics. You can add premium top woods, such as AAAA flamed maple, AAAA quilted maple, flamed koa, and California Claro walnut. In addition to the many different types of woods offered, you can choose to have the body edges fully radiused for additional playing comfort.

The standard maple neck clarifies the overall tone of the instrument, but other neck woods, such as mahogany and koa are offered for their own slightly warmer tonal qualities. 5-piece necks of different combinations of maple, walnut and koa add to the already great looks of this instrument, and if an optional top wood is selected, you can choose whether you want the neck to show on the top or not. All of our necks and fingerboards undergo a long conditioning process in our de-humidification chambers to remove any stress in the wood and prevent future warping or twisting. The dual-action, fully adjustable truss rod helps keep the neck straight and true, and allows you to set the action just the way you like it. The standard headstock is a 6-inline version, and you can also choose a traditional 3 X 3, V style, CT style, pointed inline or reversed design.

Smooth Neck Heel
Smooth Neck Heel
The DC127 features a standard 25" scale ebony fingerboard with white pearl dot inlays, a 14" radius and 24 medium-jumbo stainless steel frets. The Custom Shop offers more fingerboard options than most manufactures offer for their entire guitar lines. You can choose from rosewood, maple, birdseye maple, flamed maple or zebrawood fingerboards; dot, diamond, signature or block inlays in mother-of-pearl or genuine abalone as well as black acrylic blocks or diamonds; and fingerboard radii of 10" or 12". Kiesel Guitars also offers a number of fretwire options, including jumbo, low-wide and stainless steel. The "Rapid Play" low action neck assures effortless playability throughout the entire fingerboard, while the smooth neck heel allows easy access all the way up to the 24th fret.

You can choose from 4 different bridges: the "M" bridge with tune-o-matic bridge and strings fed through the body for additional sustain is standard; a Hipshot hardtail bridge with strings through the body; a Floyd Rose tremolo with or without locking nut; or the Kiesel/Hipshot tremolo system. Premium locking tuners with a 19:1 ratio ensure you'll stay in tune no matter what your playing style is. Standard hardware is chrome, and you can upgrade to black or gold.

S22 Metal Covered Humbuckers
Optional S22 Metal Covered Humbuckers
The DC127 comes equipped with a Classic Series C22B humbucker in the bridge, and a Classic Series C22J pickup in the neck position, which are custom wound with vintage plain enamel wire that brings out the harmonically rich tone and sustain of the guitar. Classic Series humbuckers have 11 polepieces per coil, which eliminates dropoff when bending strings. Controls consist of a master volume and tone control, 3-way pickup selector, and dual-to-single coil switching for each pickup. For added warmth and sleek looks, try the S22 Series metal covered pickups, which are available in chrome, black or gold to match your hardware. You can also choose from M22 Series or Holdsworth H22 Series pickups. Standard pickups have black coils and bezels, but any combination of black or cream coils and bezels are available. You can also select a humbucker-single-single pickup configuration (option code 135), or add a center position AP11 or twinblade humbucker.
